Haggling is a necessary Life Skill if you want to be a traveler. In many countries, haggling is customary and factored into the cost of everything. That means that the hotels/shops/taxis etc. are all purposely overpricing their goods in order to HAGGLE. There is of course a technique to haggling, but there’s a bit more to it than that.
Firstly, you need to make a good first impression. If you look like you can afford the “western prices” they will charge you according to their idea of what a “foreigner” can afford. (And yes, the typical base number is automatically $100. Who knows why they came up with that number but it seems to be a common theme in every country!) Making a good first impression has a little bit to do with what you wear but mostly, its about your body language and facial expressions.
Secondly, you need to understand the local currency and what a typical local would pay and the actual “street value” of the currency. UNDERSTAND THAT YOU WILL NEVER GET THE SAME DEAL AS A LOCAL. However, there’s a fine line between paying slightly more than a local and getting COMPLETELY RIPPED OFF. That’s what we want to avoid.
Thirdly, you need to know when to walk away and when you need to just suck it up and learn a lesson from the experience.
So how do we put all of this information: 1) The Technique of Haggling 2) Facial Expressions 3) Understanding the Currency and 4) Walking Away, to good use? Don’t worry, Krys Kolumbus Travel has broken it down for you in an easy to follow Video Series Course.
Why is a Video Series Course Necessary?
Because videos are the best way to share with you my PROVEN techniques, facial expressions, body language, and first-hand experiences on a face to face basis. I learned most of these techniques while solo traveling and living abroad in remote areas in India, Egypt, Mongolia, Kyrgyzstan, Romania and more. In fact, my travels since 2010 to over 50+ countries have allowed me to deal with locals AS A LOCAL. Not easy to do when you’re the only person for 100 miles with blonde hair, green eyes and standing at 5’8”.

You can't ever know enough - great course with amazing insights and super helpful tips!!
I used to think that I’m a pretty good haggler myself but as it turns out there’s so much more to learn! I loved the personal stories (i think i would have started to cry standing in front of that river and pay whatever they asked me so i’m super stunned to see what’s possible if only you know what you’re doing and are confident in your skills) and all the body language and facial expression tips which not only made me giggle a bit but also made me understand the importance of their proper use! This course really provided me with valuable insights and I can’t wait to put everything I’ve learned into action on my next trip and see how much I can save now that I know how to haggle like a boss lady :)

Excellent course, thorough and entertaining
I found this course to be very informative, and fun. The tips on getting a taxi, for example, covered aspects of haggling that I hadn't ever even considered! The quality of the content is well worth the price, no need to haggle here (see what I did there?). You even get to see a clip of Krystal in action; she has done all of the homework for you. I would highly recommend this course to anyone, not only traveling, but who wants to be able to confidently get the best price for an item or service.
Very useful tips
This course had some very practical tips. Krystal seems to be an experienced traveller and she talks about some things that I'd never thought about trying before - also, her way of telling stories is hilarious! Excited to try everything on my next trip :)
This course was a great lesson. I feel totally confident that I will be able to haggle effectively. I had always been shy and had no confidence when it comes to haggling. Now I feel that I will be successful if I try. Thank you Krystal for your insight!
